It is made from a single ingredient that is wild harvested and certified USDA organic. The Mesquite tree is native to South America but was imported to South Africa as cattle feed because it is highly nutritious. However, with most introduced species it grew uncontrollably and now it occupies great swathes of valuable farm land and using up precious ground water. Luckily, Two brothers discovered you can roast and grind up the pods to make a product similar to coffee grounds that you can use it to make a sweet, caramel and nutty tasting espresso. So MannaBrew was born. Now, once a year for a few weeks, thousands of locals are employed to pick up the pods from the Mesquite trees to stop them from spreading. This does the environment a favour as well as providing the impoverished local community with valuable income. Not to mention the farmland this preserves and clears up for the local farmers. Each 226g (8oz) box of MannaBrew has the potential to prevent 393 new trees from growing, which saves 23,580L of water per day! That’s over 8 million liters per year!
