About Metalock International Association

The Metalock International Association, the worldwide network of specialist engineering companies. Metalock is the name given to the unique process of the onsite repair of cracked & broken castings. The only real alternative to welding. It is also known as metal stitching. First formed in 1953 by 14 companies who recognised the unique engineering potential of the Metalock process, the Association now has over 70 Member companies worldwide. The Association represents all registered member country organisations worldwide, where we assist in developing excellence in engineering repair services. Exchanging knowledge, research and operational cooperation between members is the main purpose of the association; every year members gather together somewhere in the world solely for this reason. During the rest of the year, staff constantly collaborate across the globe, especially when a member is tackling a complex engineering project. ✺ Repairs to cast iron, steel, aluminium and other alloys. ✺ Usually repairs can be carried out onsite, saving time and cost. ✺ Maintains alignment and original surfaces. ✺ Absorbs compression stresses and spreads the tensile strains. ✺ Distributes the load away from fatigue points. ✺ The repair being completely cold does not introduce fresh stresses, and can be undertaken in most operating environments. ✺ Maintains balanced expansion characteristics when heated. ✺ A pressure tight seal can be achieved. ✺ Alloys MN211 & MN555 Metalock material are only provided to Association members. The Metalock repair process is recognised by Classification Societies.
