METO International GmbH is one of the world's leading providers of price marking solutions for retailers and their supply chain. METO develops, produces and sells a variety of label solutions. The portfolio includes pricing and advertising labels, food labels, labels according HACCP guidelines and barcode labels. In addition, METO offers cost-effective solutions for fresh produce signage, fixing solutions for electronic price labels (ESL) and other sales promotion solutions. Many of the pricing and promotion solutions developed by METO are now standard in retailing. These include the first pricing gun (1959), the wavy-edge label with security cut (1968) besides various price cassettes and displays. METO was founded in 1918 by Adolf Metzger and Oskar Kind in Cologne. Since 2016, METO has been part of CCL Industries Inc., a leader in label and packaging solutions for businesses and consumers, where it operates as a separate unit in CCL's Avery division. The headquarter of the European METO business with production and warehouse is Hirschhorn/Neckar, close to Heidelberg in Germany.
