About Metropolitan Asian Family Services
MAFS owes its existence to Universal Industries, a Chicago based business, which applied for Home Care Services, which is now known as Universal Metro Asian Services (UMAS) and MAFS was formed to deliver all other social service programs. Metropolitan Asian Family Services (MAFS)/UMAS have come a long way. It was incorporated as a not-for-profit Tax-Exempt 501 © (3) multi-cultural organization in 1993 with a mission to provide comprehensive and integrated services to immigrant population of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lankan and East European communities facing linguistic and cultural barriers. MAFS/UMAS is a multi-cultural and multi ethnic organization and has, at its core, a commitment to educate, counsel and assist and empower immigrants to become productive member of American Society.
