Covering more than 1,000 square kilometres, we protect almost four million Melbourne residents, workers and visitors, as well as billions of dollars of assets and infrastructure – 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. MFB firefighters are the first to respond to specific medical emergencies under the Emergency Medical Response First Responder Program (EMR) – a first in Australia. The MFB consistently reports some of the fastest emergency response times and consequently achieves a high percentage of fire containment to room of origin.
