About METS Ignited Australia

In 2023 METS Ignited successfully completed the delivery of our industry-led, government-funded Industry Growth Centre Initiative for the Mining Equipment, Technology and Services (METS) sector. Our goal was to build capability, leveraging the experience of our world leading METS sector. Over 8 years we invested a little over $16 million dollars into 35 collaborative projects, with over 75 Industry partners, attracting more than 2.5 x industry funding. These projects brought 20+ new Australian innovations to market. The companies delivering these projects created over 1000 new jobs, and are projecting additional annual revenues of over $900 million by 2025. Our program proved local technology companies (vendors) are the most effective channel for translating local research and commercialising innovation; generating a return on investment for the benefit of the national economy. Our legacy is our investment into Australia’s innovation ecosystem, supporting the creation of organisations such as CORE Innovation Hub, the Australian Automaton and Robotics Precinct (AARP), the Electric Mine Consortium (EMC), the Future Battery CRC, Unearthed, Atomic Sky, QuantumTX, EnviroMETS QLD and the Australian Innovation Exchange (AIX).
