Mason City Schools Experiential Learning Program's mission is to bridge the talent gap for companies and create opportunities for students to gain valuable career experiences. Creating a benefit for both companies and students, contributing to a stronger and more competitive workforce that keeps talent in our region. To grow and serve students & companies better, the program will be powered by a Student-run firm, the Comet Career Connectors. Comet Career Connectors serves students by: - Providing them with career exploration and discovery opportunities. - Providing quality career experiences including career 1:1’s, job shadowing, career panels, class projects, and internships. - Preparing them for those experiences. Comet Career Connectors serves companies by: - Recruiting and Preparing students to fill their business needs for entry-level positions, internships, apprentices, project workers, and skill-building positions. - Connecting business to the classroom to ensure curriculum and students are ready for the future of work at these businesses. Comet Career Connectors serves Mason City Schools staff by: - Connect business to their classroom via enrolling teachers to request content and career-related guest speakers from company partners. - Providing business-led class projects and real-world additions to instruction.
