Michael Matthews Studio is an architecture and design firm based in Los Angeles. We believe architecture is a catalyst of change for individuals, communities, and the planet. Since its founding in 2020, Michael Matthews Studio has been quickly recognized as a leader in residential architecture design. In 2021, the firm was recognized by the American Institute of Architects with a certificate of Architectural Merit for residential work. And in 2022, BUILD Magazine published Michael Matthews Studio as a Leader in Creative Architecture and Design. In addition to residential projects, Michael Matthews Studio offers services for all building types, as well as Building Concept Design, Interior Design, Web Design, and Industrial Design. Michael Matthews, AIA is an architect and designer based in Los Angeles. He has worked in the industry's leading design offices, including Renzo Piano Building Workshop and Thomas Phifer and Partners. He is a licensed architect registered with the American Institute of Architects, and the principal of Michael Matthews Studio, an award-winning boutique architecture firm. Michael graduated with Distinction from Harvard University with a Master of Architecture. He graduated cum laude from Rice University with a Bachelor of Architecture. He earned the AIA Henry Adams Medal for graduating first in his class. Across his academic and professional work, Michael has received multiple awards including the Louis Sudler Prize in the Arts, Margaret Everson Fossi Prize, Ralph S. Herman Memorial Award, Mary Ellen Lovett Traveling Fellowship, GSD Dean's Scholarship, AIA LA's Presidential Honoree Award, and the Harvard Joint Center for Housing Studies Thesis Grant Award. He is a member of the Tau Sigma Delta Architecture Honor Society.
