About Michigan Association of Reimbursement Officers

MARO membership consists of billers, coders and finance professionals of many of the Community Mental Health agencies in the state of Michigan. We also count among our membership representatives of smaller agencies which provide behavioral health services. The purpose of the Association is to study and evaluate various plans and procedures for reimbursement of care, maintenance and treatment costs for persons receiving services by PIHP, CMHSP and other organizations or contractors that deliver services and supports to persons with behavioral health needs, intellectual/developmental disabilities and/or substance use disorders. The Association may compare and discuss the requirements of existing systems; to study and develop plans to improve upon existing systems of reimbursement for such care, maintenance and treatment; to foster the exchange of information and to develop more efficient operations by cooperation of all parties involved in regard to reimbursement programs, insurance programs, fiscal and financial policies and procedures, accounting methods and all other matters related to the collection and reimbursement of the costs of care, maintenance and treatment of individuals receiving services. MARO holds two educational conferences each year (spring and fall), providing reimbursement professionals the opportunity to discuss challenges and changes in CMH reimbursement, network with peers and to gather information directly from reimbursement professionals and sources at the State level. Membership is not required for reimbursement professionals to attend MARO conferences.
