About Michigan Private Credit Group

The Michigan Private Credit Group (MPCG) at the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business is dedicated to developing the next generation of leaders in the rapidly growing field of private credit and direct lending. MPCG provides its members with early exposure to the private credit sector, a crucial yet often overlooked area within the alternative investments industry. MPCG believes in experiential learning and professional development through action. Members participate in weekly workshops and discussions covering the fundamentals of credit analysis, debt structuring, and capital markets. These sessions are designed to help students build technical fluency in topics such as leveraged buyouts, risk-adjusted return profiles, and credit underwriting. Members also participate in MPCG’s semester-long private credit competition, where they analyze and pitch live deal opportunities to experienced professionals in the credit space. This hands-on project simulates real-world direct lending and culminates in feedback from industry practitioners at top-tier private credit firms. The club also maintains a robust speaker series, offering members the opportunity to hear from leading investors, lenders, and portfolio managers. Guest speakers provide unique insight into market trends, deal execution, and the evolving role of private credit in global finance. MPCG is proud to be the first and only student group at Michigan dedicated exclusively to private credit. We aim to foster a tight-knit and intellectually curious community of students who are eager to explore this fast-growing asset class.
