About Michigan Shakespeare Festival

The Michigan Shakespeare Festival’s (MSFs) Mission is “to inspire and entertain diverse audiences with evocative, interesting, and epic productions of classical theatre’s greatest plays.” While the works of Shakespeare are our foundation, we also produce plays by other classical playwrights as well as adaptations of great literature. Each season, the MSF produces two of Shakespeare’s plays: one well-known script that is easily recognizable by our audiences, and the other a lesser-known, lesser-produced work. In addition, each season’s third offering is a classical play or an adaptation of literature by another playwright. In the past, we have staged works by Moliere, Shaw, Wilde, Chekhov, and Sheridan. We strive to make sure the three productions of our MainStage season give something to everyone in our audiences: comedy, drama, romance, mystery, and epic storytelling. In addition to our MainStage productions, the MSF annually produces two touring productions of Shakespeare that we bring to approximately 10,000 high school students each year.
