About MicroAlgaeX

MicroalgaeX is a startup born from researchers from the most prestigious Turkish universities – among which Bogazici University, Istanbul University, Istanbul Zaim University – with the aim of studying microalgae to find ecological and sustainable solutions and applications for the fuel, transport, food, cosmetics markets, pharmaceuticals and air quality (and much more…). We are convinced that solutions to solving many of the most important problems of today's world can be found in Microalgae. Microalgae are the first entities that arrived on earth 3 billion and a half or a half years ago and those that allowed to transform carbon dioxide into oxygen, the first organisms capable of carrying out photosynthesis, So those that made the earth habitable. Not only that, today we breathe thanks to Microalgae, because they are the ones that produce about 80% of the oxygen we breathe. Microalgae, therefore, are fundamental for our life and that of our planet. Microalgae are the raw material of the future. They are a possible resource for the sustainable production of raw materials for chemicals and plastics. This innovation has the potential to significantly reduce dependence on fossil fuel-based production. And that's what we work on at Microalgaex. We study microalgae in different sectors to make them the future of our planet. The two biggest problems in the world are pollution and hunger. Pollution can be solved with biocompatible fuels, for example algae. The key challenge to microalgae is that they can be grown on non-arable land (virtually anywhere) – not "stealing" land from growing food – and produce valuable compounds for the chemical and fuel industries. In addition, the microalgae itself is a source of protein and can therefore be a food of high nutritional value for many countries.
