About Mid-Atlantic Pharmacology Society (MAPS)

MAPS is a constituent chapter of the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET). Formed in 1987, the objective of the Society is to provide scientists in our geographical area (New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware) with a forum for meeting on a regular basis to discuss recent advances in pharmacology, related medical disciplines, and therapeutics. MAPS supports undergraduate students, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows in their training by providing a forum to present their research and interact with local industrial and academic scientists. MAPS hosts an annual meeting each fall featuring a keynote speaker, invited presentations from regional scientists and trainees, a poster session, and a biotech roundtable focused on connecting students with regional industry. The poster session is a judged event and competitors in different categories (Undergraduates, Graduate Students, Research Associates, and Postdoctoral Researchers) are eligible to win cash prizes and a plaque. Abstracts of all posters are published in the ASPET journal The Pharmacologist. Poster presentations do not need to be related to the theme of the meeting and can be on any research topic related to biomedical, biological, or pharmaceutical research.
