About Midnight Sun Solar Rayce Car Team
Midnight Sun is a student-run team proudly representing the University of Waterloo on the international stage. Since 1988, we’ve been designing and building solar-powered vehicles that combine innovation, sustainability, and engineering excellence. Right now, we’re hard at work on our next car, Midnight Sun XVI (MS 16). Every new vehicle is built from the ground up, and MS 16 is no exception. It’s a full team effort that involves constant design, testing, and iteration to push the boundaries of what solar cars can do. With each generation, we get closer to bridging the gap between solar-powered vehicles and everyday transportation. For us, Midnight Sun is much more than just a student project. It’s a chance to take what we learn in the classroom and put it into action, tackling challenges that require creativity, collaboration, and technical expertise. The experience of working on this team stays with us long after graduation, shaping us into the engineers, innovators, and problem-solvers of tomorrow.
