About MidWave Wireless
MidWave Wireless (formerly TerreStar Corporation) is one of the largest independent wireless spectrum license holders in the United States. MidWave’s mid-band spectrum assets cover every major domestic market, representing more than 3.3 Billion MHz-POPs of aggregate Radio Frequency (RF) resource. The 1.4 GHz Band is MidWave’s largest asset, comprising 64 licenses that cover 100% of the United States. At 2.7 Billion MHz-POPs, this is the largest contiguous wide-area resource not controlled by a wireless carrier. This band is unique in its nationwide footprint, attractive propagation characteristics, wide-area power authority, and protection from harmful RF interference. The 1.4 GHz Band will soon be open to a diversity of private LTE and NR use cases in support of next-generation industrial and enterprise wireless applications. The 1.7 GHz Band is MidWave’s indirect investment in critical AWS-3 spectrum, comprising 18 licenses that cover 19% of the nation across 11 of the largest metropolitan markets or 639 million MHz-POPs. The 3GPP standards body incorporated this portion of AWS-3 into the n70 5G band class, which was recently integrated into the Qualcomm chipset ecosystem. The 1.7 GHz Band may be used to complete existing networks using band n70 or as a generic carrier Supplementary Uplink (SUL) resource.
