About Midwest Home Distributors

Midwest Home Distributors was started in 1969 as a lumber yard and a local distributor of flooring, specifically carpet. This was before deregulation of trucking, and there was a huge demand from Cedar Rapids and surrounding area dealers, for a supplier with local inventory. As the business grew, Midwest expanded its sales territory to cover the entire state of Iowa. By 1980 the business had grown to five salesmen covering the state, and had outgrown our original facility. The following years were marked by the move into our current Cedar Rapids warehouse, and the worst recession since the Great Depression. It was during this time that our company philosophy of service first, was developed. We found that a company wide commitment to service , generated significantly more value to our dealers, than price alone. We hired highly qualified Territory Managers that would not only be selling but become valuable consultants to our dealers with their years of floor covering experience. We continued our expansion into western Illinois, southern Minnesota, and Nebraska. As we continued to grow we added new product lines and a warehouse in Des Moines to better serve our customers in the Western part of the state. As most of our dealers know, our warehouse staffs are outstanding as well. Our goal is to not only provide the best service, products, and pricing, but to be a full line distributor for our dealers that are looking for a single source for their purchases.
