Migdale Transport Limited are based in Southeast Sutherland in the Scottish Highlands and provide live fish transport solutions to the fish farming industry throughout mainland UK, Orkney Isles, Shetland Isles, Western Isles, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Faroes Isles and France. We move farmed Atlantic Salmon, Rainbow Trout, Lumpfish and Wrasse by road & sea. A 100% family-owned Scottish company, established in 2008. Initially, we chartered 3rd party wellboats until in December 2015 we purchased our first 650m3 vessel, the Migdale. As the need for bigger vessels became a necessity, we commissioned the build a 1500m3 twin well vessel, the Marsali. Specifically designed to meet welfare requirements for handling farmed salmon and to cope with the weather and tidal conditions in the Orkney & Shetland Islands and Mainland Scotland. She arrived to start work in Shetland in April 2020 and quickly proved to be a valuable asset to the industry. We have built up our rolling fleet to ten trucks and thirteen bespoke trailers. The trailers vary in capacity with eight fitted with 4 tanks x 5m3, two fitted with 4 x 5m3 233, two trailers fitted with 1m3 removable tanks - these 10 & 16 tankers are designed for moving lumpfish and wrasse, the tanks can be removed from the trailer on to a barge or landing craft, along with a mobile oxygen supply system, for transfer direct to the sea sites. As well as the specialised trailers, we have a flat bed available for general haulage. Our highly trained and dedicated drivers and crews ensures the safe passage of fish from farm to their destination - great attention is always given to the fish welfare with strict animal husbandry procedures adhered to at all times.
