Dr. Michael R. Mijares is a Sports Medicine fellowship-trained, Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeon, specializing in arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the shoulder, hip, and knee. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, and a Medical Doctorate with Highest Honors from Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica. Dr. Mijares completed his Orthopedic Surgery residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami, where he served as Chief Resident. Subsequently, he pursued a fellowship in Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy, and Reconstructive Surgery at the esteemed Southern California Orthopedic Institute (SCOI) in Los Angeles, CA, training under pioneers of minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery. He is an accomplished author with publications in the field of arthroscopy and fracture surgery, demonstrating his commitment to staying at the forefront of innovative techniques. Dr. Mijares is dedicated to providing exceptional patient care, embodying a lifelong commitment to learning. Beyond his medical pursuits, Dr. Mijares enjoys quality time with his wife and four children, along with interests in surfing, triathlon training, and spearfishing.
