About Mike Mah, MD

Meet Michael Mahgerefteh, MD - better known to his patients as Dr. Mike Mah. Through training and active treatment, Dr. Mike has honed his expertise in providing comprehensive psychiatric care including pharmacological and psychotherapeutic approaches to treating a variety of mental illnesses including, but not limited to: depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, ADHD, psychosis, and personality disorders. Dr. Mike's unique approach involves personalized pharmacotherapy with a dynamic psychotherapeutic base with focus on an integrative approach including lifestyle modification, behavioral activation, mindfulness meditation, and more. In short, he looks at the whole body and mind and works with his clients to make sure that all aspects of their illness are addressed through medication, therapy, nutrition, exercise, sleep optimization, and more. Dr. Mike’s specialty training included work with a spectrum of different patient populations – from private insurance patients at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute to Medi-Cal patients at UCLA Olive View Medical Center to serving our veterans at the West Los Angeles Veterans Hospital. During his busy residency, Dr. Mike also made time to serve as the principal psychiatrist for Jewish Family Services of Los Angeles – serving a wide variety of patients from the Greater Los Angeles area. Dr. Mike completed his undergraduate degree at UC Irvine – receiving a Bachelors of Science in Biology prior to being accepted to UC Irvine for his medical degree. After receiving his M.D. at UCI, Dr. Mike attended psychiatry residency at UCLA where he opted for a dual UCLA and West LA Veteran’s Affairs combined program in order to expand his breadth of training.
