Our Vision and Values MIKE Program's values of Respect, Inclusion, Empowerment and Integrity support our vision of young people meeting their potential in vibrant good health, contributing fully as citizens of a vibrant, strong society A Living Memorial MIKE Program serves as a living memorial to Michael (Mike) N. Hartnett, M.D. who embodied the best of the wisdom, kindness, care, and convictions of those he left behind. Dr. Hartnett was the first nephrology fellow at what is now OHSU to receive training to become a board certified nephrologist. He took care of patients for many years throughout the Portland Metropolitan Area, The Dalles, and La Grande. He volunteered at what was first Kidney Association of Oregon (KAO) and then the National Kidney Foundation of Oregon and Washington (NKF OR-WA). With Charles Martinson, M.D. he was co-medical director of dialysis at (Legacy) Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland. He treated patients at dialysis centers and hospitals throughout the tri-county metropolitan area. Dr. Hartnett served as a nephrologist in the offices of Northwest Renal Clinic from 1975 until his retirement in 1998. He died of lymphoma in 2000. He was 58.
