About Mike's Apiaries

Mike's Apiaries is a family run business selling 100% pure Michigan honey and honey products. Besides being a captain for the Portage Fire Department, Dennis McGahan is also a beekeeper. He has been keeping company with bees since 1990. Starting with only several hives, he and his son, Michael, worked together. In 1991, Michael died while waiting for a liver transplant. In honor of his son, Dennis named his business “Mike’s Apiaries”. Today, Dennis has expanded his business to approximately 200 hives. He has several family members that help him. His wife Chris who makes the lotion, lip-balm bars, and candles, as well as and helps at market, and son Travis who also helps at the market. His grandson Zach helps throughout the operation including designing the website Over the years, Dennis has learned that there is a lot more to bees then what first meets the eye. Mike’s Apiaries carries a full line of Michigan honey products including wildflower honey, raw honey, chunk honey, flavored honey, crème honey, honey straws, comb honey, honey soap, beeswax candles, beeswax lotion, beeswax lip-balm, honey candy, and more.
