About Millay Arts
Millay Arts (formerly Millay Colony for the Arts) is the third longest-running multidisciplinary artist residencies in the US. 2023 marks our 50th anniversary, and we are presenting a year-long series of events, including a Gala/Alumni Reunion on September 9, 2023. Our mission is to support the work and creative process of multidisciplinary artists through residencies, educational and cultural programs that enrich lives and communities locally and globally. From March-November, we host poets, writers, playwrights, filmmakers, composers, performance and visual artists for two-week to month-long stays at Steepletop, the historic estate of Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Edna St. Vincent Millay, located in Austerlitz, NY in the upper Hudson Valley and adjacent to the Berkshires. To date, we have welcomed over 3000 gifted creators; our alumni are consistently recognized with international honors, including MacArthur and National Book awards, Pulitzer, Pen America, NY Critics Choice and other prizes, Guggenheim fellowships and others. In addition to our historic Core Residency program (fully-subsized), we also offer the Steepletop Residency (partially-subsidized, for those with private and/or institutional support), Teaching Artist Residencies (in partnership with local schools) and the Wintertide Rustic Retreat (open to the public, low-fee stays from December-February).
