Founded in 1987, the company was originally focused on tax management for individuals. It remained that way until 2005, when it changed ownership and was renamed Mission Oaks Tax and Accounting, Inc. (MOTA). John Elhai began working with MOTA in 2005, initially on a part-time basis as a contractor and ultimately in a full-time capacity managing the company’s growth. Offering both business tax and accounting services, he cemented the company's reputation as a premier provider of these services in Ventura County. In 2015, John Elhai purchased Mission Oaks Tax and Accounting, Inc. In the years since then, he has increased the company's revenues threefold, and is currently guiding the company towards utilization of process automation as a key component of providing timely and accurate services to clients.
