About MJMK Restaurants

MJMK was founded in 2018 by lifelong friends Jake Kasumov and Marco Mendes. Our journey began with the launch of Casa do Frango in London Bridge, inspired by Marco’s Portuguese heritage and fond memories of his upbringing in southern Portugal. Offering a menu of fresh, wood charcoal-cooked dishes in a warm atmosphere, it quickly became a local favourite. Building on this success, we were fortunate to be able to expand Casa do Frango to the neighbourhoods of Picadilly (2022) and Victoria (2023). In 2020, we partnered with chef Santiago Lastra to open KOL in Marylebone, celebrating the rich culinary heritage of Mexico, reimagined through British ingredients. KOL has since earned a Michelin Star and was named No. 17 on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list in 2024. KOL Mezcaleria, an intimate mezcal and cocktail bar downstairs, followed in 2021. In the spring of 2022, we opened Lisboeta on Charlotte Street with renowned Portuguese chef Nuno Mendes. A love letter to the lively dining culture of his hometown, Lisbon, it soon earnt its place in the Michelin Guide and the World’s 50 Best Discovery List. 2024 saw the opening of two exciting new ventures: Fonda, a modern Mexican restaurant on Heddon Street, our second collaboration with Santiago, and AngloThai in Marylebone with John Chantarasak, blending Thai flavours with British ingredients. Both restaurants have since earned a spot in the Michelin Guide and received rave reviews from the likes of Grace Dent and Jay Rayner.
