About MND Queensland
MND Queensland is committed to supporting and maintaining the quality of life for all people living with Motor Neurone Disease within the State. Our mission is to ensure access to best practice care and support for every Queenslander impacted by MND and contribute to finding a cure. To do this we run an MND Advisory service that provides essential information to families, health professionals and the general public; physical and emotional support to patients and carers, and referrals to appropriate medical, health and community services. Clients have access to a library pool of equipment to help them to remain comfortable, mobile and as independent as possible and continue to live at home and participate in activities of daily life for as long as possible. Carer support is also vital as the needs and health of the primary care-giver are important. Regular contact with our Advisors and other carers allows people living with MND to share experiences, learn from each other, and offer a great source of information and support. Regular support meetings for clients, carers, family members & friends and newsletters are just some of the ways in which we support the whole family through their journey with MND. We provide Support Coordination for those who qualify for the NDIS and support older clients with their My Aged Care packages. We run a multidisciplinary service with a range of in-house allied health services including; occupational therapy, speech therapy and physiotherapy. Education on MND and appropriate care for people living with MND is offered for those newly diagnosed, family, informal carers as well as those working in the disability, and health care sectors. We're part of a national alliance with other State organisations and we come together under the umbrella of MND Australia, including our research arm MND Research Australia, which promotes, supports and funds the best MND research.
