Thought Forward Design, Inc. d/b/a Mobella is a company committed to creating innovative, human-centered products for people with mobility limitations. We are redefining mobility through beautifully crafted solutions that foster independence, confidence, and connection. Our extensive user research, both quantitative and qualitative, has identified key functionality gaps from the perspectives of users, caregivers, and healthcare professionals. Our mission is to create a more inclusive world by empowering individuals with light to moderate mobility challenges to live active, fulfilling lives. We design next-generation mobility products that meet physical needs while helping people feel confident rather than old or infirm. In partnership with leading academic, design, and commercial collaborators, we’re working to bring our patented solutions to market at scale. We're proud that our project, “Skywalker: Innovations in Mobility”, was selected for Cohort 8 of the SPARK Fellows Program at CU Innovations, furthering our collaboration with Dr. Cathy Bodine and the University of Colorado Denver. Our work is grounded in lived experience. In 2012, Co-Founder Henry R. Kaufman was partially paralyzed by Guillain-Barre Syndrome. Determined to remain active and independent, he sought better ways to continue doing what he loved. Frustrated by the limited options available, he and his wife, Meryl, co-founded Mobella to reimagine what mobility products should be by creating stylish yet functional solutions that better and more boldly represent the people they're made for. With a user-centered design approach and a strong network of partners, we’re building modern tools to better support people with mobility challenges.
