About Mock Trial @ SMU
Founded in 2003, SMU's Competitive Mock Trial Program is an organization that strives to help undergraduate students excel in competition by developing their skills in legal analysis and oral advocacy. Mock Trial is an activity where undergraduate students interested in law travel and argue cases, both civil and criminal, against schools from across the country. The team has traveled to Las Vegas, New York, Washington DC, Denver, and more to compete throughout the competitive season. These trials mimic real court, requiring witnesses and attorneys, opening and closing statements, directs and crosses, demonstrative aids, and evidentiary documents.
