About Modern Frogs

At Modern Frogs we design and produce cast glass flower arrangers, known as flower frogs. Each frog and bowl is a signed and numbered, limited edition collectable. Make your flowers happy! Every critter in this pond theme series of sculpted flower frogs is ideal for showing your beautiful flowers. MODERN FROGStm are made employing cire perdu or 'lost wax', a time honored process where the sculpting of the original is done in wax. The wax figure is invested in plaster then set into an oven and the wax original is burned out leaving a negative mold. Each mold is hand finished before the glass is cast. After two days of firing, anealing and cooling, the mold is broken apart to remove the glass. The frog is now ready for polishing. The process is lengthy and painstaking to bring the final glass frog to the artist's satisfaction, limited quantities are produced. After a last inspection the piece is signed, numbered and photographed, ready to leave the studio
