You haven’t tasted chocolate until you have had one of ours. Moksha Chocolate is small-batch fine chocolate made farm to bar in Boulder, Colorado. We handcraft our fine bars and squares from single-origin cacao sourced directly from the Rio Mayo Valley in Peru and the Maya Mopan village in Belize. I am proud of Moksha Chocolate and our story. Let me tell you about our story of how we got into craft chocolate. It all started in 2013. My husband, Michael was getting tired of his work in IT and wanted to get back into farming. I am a horticulturalist, and teacher. One day, one of our friends invited us to visit a cocoa farm in Peru. We fell in love. We saw opportunities. An opportunity for Michael to get his “hands dirty.” An opportunity to help the cacao farmers and improve the Peruvian local economy. We established a non-profit co-op referred to as “regenerative trade.” Regenerative trade allows the farmers to be paid directly for their cacao beans, thereby cutting out the middleman. By late 2017, these cacao beans arrived in our location in Boulder, Colorado. We taught ourselves every aspect of fine chocolate making. From roasting, winnowing and grinding the beans, to tempering and molding. All of our chocolates are made with natural and organic ingredients. We make our own cold pressed butter that goes into these chocolates. At Moksha Chocolate, you’ll find Dark Chocolate, Milk Chocolate, White Chocolate, and various chocolate inclusions.
