About Monkeyhouse

Monkeyhouse began with a promise to build a laboratory where choreographers could create, experiment and present new work. Over the years we have mentored, nurtured and supported dozens of choreographers ranging from students first experimenting to established favorites. We’ve had hundreds of conversations about different choreographic processes that stimulate or inspire new directions for our work and helped foster long term relationships with presenters, audience members and other choreographers. Monkeyhouse's Mission: Who needs choreography? If you define choreography as moving with meaning, EVERYONE does. This is about more than just dance. Choreography can be everything from where you choose to sit in a room to how you hold yourself when meeting new people to the way you can tell someone's mood before they open their mouths. How do YOU move? Movement is a universal language and our first form of communication. It instinctively shapes our interpersonal interactions but very few people harness its full potential. Since so few school offer choreography classes, Monkeyhouse closes an often-overlooked gap in our educational system. Do you want to you join us?
