The Monongalia County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) is a West Virginia law enforcement agency, headed by the publicly elected, Sheriff. The MCSO was established in 1881 and has since grown and changed in size, divisions, and locations, all in ways to help better serve the 105,000+ residents and visitors of Monongalia County. Today, MCSO offers a variety of services to the citizens of Monongalia County, and has become a more proactive law enforcement agency. On top of the standard county patrol, emergency call response, and municipality assist, the MCSO also has a variety of highly trained, specialized units.
