About Montfort Missionaries USA

The Montfort Missionaries (official title: Missionaries of the Company of Mary, Inc.) is an international congregation of priests and brothers founded by Saint Louis Marie Grignion de Montfort in 1705 in France. Established to preach parish missions and help renew the faith life of the Catholic Church through a greater awareness of each person's baptismal holiness, today the Montfort Missionaries serve in nearly 30 countries around the world and reach out to the marginal and poor among us. In the United States of America the first missionaries arrived in 1903 at Port Jefferson, New York. From there the first formal missions were set up and the Congregation was instrumental ins establishing parishes and mission communities in New York, Connecticut, Indiana, Missouri, Florida, Massachusetts, and other locations in the country. Today we have missionaries serving in Nicaragua since 1974, following a tradition of missionary efforts that has included places like Malawi (East Africa), Indonesia, Borneo, Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
