About MoonBee

MoonBee by The Speakable Method's mission is to help maximise speech development skills worldwide and improve the equality of access to speech sound support through effective and affordable online solutions. Over 55 million children worldwide have speech sound difficulties, of which over 1/4 million are in the UK. Treatment is most effective when provided multiple times a week. However, with only around 12,000 childhood Speech and Language Therapists (SLTs) in the UK to support 1.7 million children with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN), many children lack the help necessary to maximise their speech sound skills. This unmet need is a global issue. Founded by Diana Smith, a Speech and Language Therapist (SaLT) with 15 years of experience, MoonBee was created to bridge this gap. Diana’s passion for improving children’s speech development led her to design a solution that provides structured, engaging, and accessible support. The Speakable Method’s first product, MoonBee is an automated speech sound development app that helps children when SLTs are in short supply. It can be used as a stand-alone tool or to augment SLT support, focusing on speech sounds while also encouraging early vocabulary development and early reading skills. MoonBee delivers short, personalised practice sessions tailored to each child's speech needs, featuring live-action mouth models for visual speech practice, session recordings to track progress and interactive tools that provide real-time Currently in a Beta testing phase, MoonBee is being refined to maximise its impact.
