About Moriarty Foundation
Moriarty Foundation was founded in 2012 by John and Ros Moriarty in response to direct community requests from grandparents and parents to improve life outcomes for their grandchildren. Moriarty Foundation works to enable families and communities to unlock children’s potential through its locally-led programs and by embracing the Aboriginal worldview to radically shift intergenerational disadvantage. Our strategic platform is designed to deliver successful program outcomes through resilient local engagement. Our underpinning framework is based on improved wellbeing and strong protective relationships for the staff, children, families and communities we work with. We deliver two groundbreaking community programs: - Indi Kindi, an early years program for under 5s and their families to improve global readiness of Aboriginal children entering pre-school and school. - John Moriarty Football (JMF) is a skills mastery program for 6-18 year olds that uses football (soccer) for talent and positive change, improving school attendance, achieving resilient, healthier outcomes in Indigenous communities. We focus on: - Supporting key attachment relationships: Parent to child, child to elder, child to staff, head office staff to local staff. - Providing wellness education and modelling: Nutrition, sleep, exercise and self calming strategies. - Building on the cultural and family strengths of the Aboriginal body/spirit/land world view. - Being locally led and building local staff capacity through mentoring, education and skills development to provide a bridge to best practice ideas and learnings. Moriarty Foundation is an affiliate of leading Australian Aboriginal-owned strategy and design company, Balarinji. We are a 100% Deductible Gift Recipient, Public Benevolent Institution.
