About Morning Tears VZW
Children are innocent to the crimes of their parents but can lose everything when their parents are sent to prison. We believe they deserve a fair chance in life to develop their full potential. Founded in China in 1998, Morning Tears is an international non-profit organization which stands up for children of convicts via awareness raising and capacity building. We are active in several countries and have a national level impact on childcare / protection in China. Morning Tears is the recipient of several awards incl. the prestigious 5-year National China Charity Award in 2010 and the Christoffel Plantin Prize in 2012. Over the last 16 years we have gained a wealth of first hand-experience in working with children of convicts & traumatized children. Our staff includes leading global experts on children of convicts. We work closely with universities and hospitals in Europe / Asia as well as relevant international forums incl. the United Nations. The following are a selection of the services we can provide: - Training in the field of childcare and protection including training for people who work with at-risk children or those in contact with traumatized children (e.g. media staff covering natural disasters) - Assist stakeholders in the development of training materials, curricula, childcare policies for staff & organizations working with at-risk and traumatized children - Assist government partners with policy preparation, developing standards for childcare and protection, setting-up childcare inspection units, developing standard operating procedures, and providing analysis of childcare and protection practices - Advise prison authorities on the best way to assist children with a parent in prison and on how to make prison visits more child-friendly. Our solutions are always tailored to the local needs with full attention for socioeconomic, cultural and gender specific differences. More information can be found on: www.morningtears.org
