About Mothers in Science
Mothers in Science is a grassroots international nonprofit organization registered in France (N˚ W343028090) founded by Isabel Torres and Sonal Bhadane in 2019. As the leading global nonprofit advocating for mothers in STEMM, we are dedicated to driving workplace equity and inclusion for caregivers through evidence-based solutions. Our rapidly growing organization represents thousands of students and professionals in STEMM worldwide, from various fields and employment sectors, including the social sciences and humanities. We are committed to creating a world where all individuals can excel professionally while balancing caregiving responsibilities. Our programs are focused on four areas: 1) providing a supportive community and resources; 2) conducting research to inform policy; 3) advocating for workplace equity and inclusion and 4) uniting partners globally to accelerate systemic change. Ultimately, we aim to: - Support, connect and empower mothers in STEMM to increase retention of women in the STEMM sector. - Advocate for mothers in STEMM and raise awareness of their challenges. - Identify the systemic barriers hindering the career advancement of caregivers in STEMM to inform policy. - Develop data-driven policies and interventions to increase caregiver inclusion and promote work-life balance in the STEMM sector. - Break gender stereotypes and eradicate the motherhood penalty.
