About Mothers' Milk Bank of Tennessee
Mothers' Milk Bank of Tennessee is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit milk bank dedicated to providing safe, pasteurized donor human milk to the most vulnerable babies in need of lifesaving nutrition. Natural, safe pasteurized human milk is needed because human milk has been shown to decrease the incidence of life-threatening newborn infections. In fact, resent studies proved the use of only human milk to feed preterm and low birth weight infants reduced mortality by 75%. Our work is critical in Tennessee. Currently, 1 in 9 babies in Tennessee are born before 37 weeks gestation. We have one of the highest preterm birth rates in the nation.
