About Mountaineering Scotland
Scotland’s national representative body for hill walkers, climbers, ski-mountaineers and mountain lovers. We work hard to serve our members and represent, support and promote Scottish mountaineering, by: Protecting Scotland's mountains We campaign to protect Scotland’s mountains, not just for us mountaineers, but for nature, tourism and local communities. Insensitive development like large windfarms or hill tracks can diminish landscapes forever. Championing access rights We are passionate about your right to enjoy, roam, scramble and climb on Scottish hills and crags. We speak up for walkers and climbers on a range of access issues, while working with conservationists to safeguard wildlife too. Promoting mountain safety Hill-walking and climbing can be risky activities, but equipping yourself with skills, experience and knowledge makes all the difference. We offer advice from our experts through subsidised training courses, talks, web resources and DVDs. Growing participation We think Scottish mountaineering should be open to all. Through our development programmes we support local clubs, communities and schools, providing pathways to climbing and the hills for young people across Scotland.
