About MountainStar Sports Group

MountainStar Sports Group (MSSG) is an El Paso-based sports and entertainment ownership, management, and marketing company founded in 2011. The owners of MSSG are members of two long-time El Paso families who joined together to build and support economic development and a better quality-of-life in and for the Borderplex Region – El Paso, TX; Ciudad Juárez, MX; and Las Cruces, NM. Foster Alejandra de la Vega Foster The holdings of MountainStar Sports Group include: El Paso Chihuahuas, the Triple-A Minor League baseball affiliate of the San Diego Padres El Paso Locomotive FC, a United Soccer League (USL) Champion team FC Juárez Bravos, a Liga MX futbol club in Juárez, México At MountainStar Sports Group, the mission is about more than sports – it’s about building communities. That mission has been at the core of everything MSSG has done: from the original purchase of the Tucson Padres and moving the team to El Paso, to the public – private partnership that facilitated the construction of Southwest University Park in Downtown El Paso, to the investment in bringing a USL Champions team to a U.S./Mexico border, and the purchase of a LigaMX futbol club and relocating it to Juarez, MX. MSSG helps build communities and community as catalysts for economic development and better quality of life initiatives. By all measures, MountainStar’s success in these areas has been notable: since the Ballpark opening in 2014, El Paso’s downtown has experienced significant new life through public and private investment – with the addition of new hotels, apartments, bars, restaurants, and parks. In addition, MSSG has proven that sports transcends borders, and can help bring cultures and people together through the universal language of sports.
