About Moving into Dance Mophatong
With the humble beginnings of a garage in Victory Park in Johannesburg thirty years ago, Moving into Dance Mophatong (MIDM) has seen marked success over the years. This award winning company has recently boasted the Arts and Culture Trust Award 2008 for the category of Cultural Development and the Standard Bank Young Artist Award for Dance 2008. Having nurtured several award winning dancers MIDM continues to hold fast to the original ethos, of Founder and current Artistic Director, Sylvia Magogo Glasser, to train youth from disadvantaged communities and equip them with skills which could be used to overcome their socio-economic circumstances. MIDM functions on four levels. It has a professional dance company that performs extensively both nationally and internationally, a full time Performing Arts Training Course (PATC), Public Dance Classes and Community Outreach Programmes.
