About MSAR Service Dogs
MSAR Service Dogs is an organization that was started by the Canadian First Nations to serve the following needs: 1. MSAR Working Dogs for local, national and international service 2. MSAR Elite Service Dogs 3. MSAR Therapy Dogs 4. MSAR Dog Training MSAR is an independent Non-Government Organization (NGO) with Certified Dog Trainers in 13 countries across the globe. They are the only agency directed by aboriginal elders, advisors and First Nation leadership. MSAR partners with like-minded agencies to deliver and operate programs and services. At MSAR we understand what it’s like to live with debilitating disabilities, illnesses, and problems that are out of our control. Our service dogs are reliable companions in increasing safety and quality of life that have not only been trained by extremely well educated and talented trainers but also by people who understand you. Each of our dogs is taken through 3 levels of certification to ensure that they are, without a doubt, ready to take on whatever is thrown at them. MSAR provides working dogs to police, military and private companies including - but not limited to, search & rescue, police K9’s, attack dogs, explosives, narcotics, etc.. MSAR is the most Awarded Search & Rescue Tech organization and has had six service dogs nominated and two inducted into the Purina Animal Hall of Fame as ‘Service Dog of the Year’. Owner and Master Certified Trainer, George Leonard was the first 1st responder in Canada with a service dog and over the years has developed the PTSD Service Dog training for the entire industry. George has been named as the recipient of The Order of Canada 2017.
