About MUBi - Association for Urban Bicycle Mobility
MUBi – Association for Urban Bicycle Mobility is an NGO founded in 2009, member of the European Cyclists' Federation. Its activities are driven by volunteer participation of its members, some with a wide experience in bicycle planning and promotion of bicycle mobility. MUBi’s mission is to contribute to the quality of life in Portuguese cities through the adoption of bicycle mobility. MUBi engages in various fields of action: # Bicycle use promotion MUBi has developed projects aimed at changing people’s mindset towards utilitarian cycling. To date, it has carried out several initiatives with significant outreach and impacts, particularly: Bike Buddy: a network of experienced cyclist volunteers who support new cyclists. www.bikebuddy.mubi.pt Rodas de Mudança (“Wheels of Change”): a promotion of urban cycling through the power of image. www.rodasdemudanca.mubi.pt Selo Empresa Amiga da Bicicleta: an assessment label for bike friendly businesses and institutions. www.selo.mubi.pt Sexta de Bicicleta (“Bike Friday”): a challenge for people to travel by bicycle for at least one trip, every Friday. www.sextadebicicleta.mubi.pt Bike to School Day: a partnership with the Lisbon energy agency Lisboa E-Nova to promote cycling amongst students in their commute to/from school. # Technical analysis and recommendations MUBi develops technical analysis on bicycle planning, drawing from international experience and producing technical analyses on key subjects related with bicycle mobility within the Portuguese context. # Information and training MUBi regularly provides information and training in organizations/events and develops support material. It also develops content regarding issues such as road user safety and traffic laws. # Advocacy MUBi regularly participates in advocacy activities aimed at making cycling a policy priority at the national and local levels.
