About Mukti Australia
Mukti Australia partners with Pandita Ramabai Mukti Mission (PRMM) in India and Wings of Hope Lanka in Sri Lanka to create opportunities for disadvantaged women & children to realise their God-given potential. IN INDIA: 1. EDUCATION: Over 2000 students attend Mukti's primary & high schools. nearly 75% coming from surrounding villages 2. VOCATIONAL TRAINING: Creative Arts School & Dignity Training Centre assist those unable to undertake academic study to become skilled in a trade or craft. 3. MEDICAL SERVICES:A 30-bed hospital treats hundreds of needy people. Sunshine Nursing Home cares for the very elderly & infirm women. 4. HOLISTIC CARE: Providing a safe refuge for abandoned children, widows, outcast women, unwed & single mothers, special needs children. & the mentally challenged. Residents live in family homes which afford them shelter, food security, access to clean water, & a sense of belonging. IN SRI LANKA, WINGS OF HOPE LANKA (Wings) envisions women & children renewed & restored through hope, confident to embrace new beginnings. Over 200 children attend the "Growing in Hope" programme 2 days a week, including: - EDUCATION: Some of the children already attend a local government school. These children receive tuition & help with homework ensuring they keep up at school. Other children receive entry level education as a stepping stone to being admitted to a government school. Children also receive a yearly gift of school supplies & school shoes, access to medical care & medicine, a nutritious meal, self-esteem & spiritual development activities, health & hygienic workshops. Older children receive life-skills and vocational training/job finding assistance SUPPORTING MOTHERS: Wings offers new-mum-care &support, self-help groups, vocational skills & small enterprise training, & access to micro-credit. STRENGTHENING FAMILIES- Emergency relief, & initiatives to improve living conditions of families: COMMUNITIES: Rights-awareness, health & hygiene workshops
