The arts have played a part in causing this crisis and, through the power of cultural change, have an essential role to play in fixing it. Art influences society by changing opinions, instilling values and translating experiences. Artists have previously helped to inspire paradigm shifts on issues such as race and sexuality. And, in the same way, have the potential to ignite a critical mass of action on the climate crisis agenda. But while artists are passionate about climate issues, many feel inadequately supported to use their platform. Artistic industries have an essential role to play by taking decisive action on sustainability and passing learnings on to the artists they support in an authentic way. Our vision: To inspire a society where artists are informed climate advocates, actively collaborating with world-class environmental organisations and supported by a climate literate and environmentally positive arts industry.
