About Museum of Contemporary Craft
From 1937 to 2016, Museum of Contemporary Craft served as a center for investigation and dialogue that helped expand the definition and exploration of craft. Through exhibitions and public programming, supported by the Museum’s collection and archives, the Museum worked to advance the conversation on the role of craft and design in contemporary culture while at the same time honoring the history of the studio craft movement. The Museum collection, a public legacy of over 1,300 objects that documents the active role of both the Museum and the Pacific Northwest in the evolution of craft over the last seven decades, is now stewarded by the Center for Contemporary Art & Culture at Pacific Northwest College of Art. The Center presents exhibitions drawn from the collection in the Center’s Collections Studies Lab. A fully-searchable digital archive was unveiled in January of 2017.
