About Museum of Nails Foundation

The Museum of Nails Foundation is a cultural initiative dedicated to archiving, celebrating, and advancing the artistry and labor behind nail work. Founded in 2022, the Museum of Nails is a digital-first platform that centers the history of beauty labor and celebrates the communities that sustain it. Because nail art IS art - and deserves to be treated that way. Our work spans public installations, historical archiving, artist commissions, and advocacy-based programming rooted in care, beauty, and equity. We foreground the contributions of immigrant and working-class nail artists, beauty workers, and cultural producers whose work is too often overlooked by traditional art and labor institutions. Current programming includes a public art installation inside the New York City subway system—a nail art history timeline and interactive AR gallery that invites commuters to engage with the legacy of nail artists as designers, caregivers, and community historians. As a fiscally sponsored arts project, the Museum of Nails is committed to building long-term infrastructure for beauty workers—through storytelling, education, and solidarity. We collaborate with artists, scholars, worker coalitions, and cultural institutions across the country to ensure nail art is recognized not only as personal expression, but as a collective archive of survival, imagination, and power.
