About Music 4 U

Music 4 U delivers fully integrated music workshops for those aged 5 - 25+, providing dedicated support to those with ASN. The young people we support all share one common factor - they all possess a talent and passion for music. Many also collectively face disadvantages including physical disabilities, learning difficulties, conditions such as ADHD, Autism and Aspergers and socioeconomic challenges such as financial poverty. This results in feelings of isolation, loneliness, anxiety, lack of confidence and low self-esteem. Many report a lack of friendships and positive social networks, limited access to recreational activities, education, and work. This all culminates in a negative impact on their mental health and wellbeing and their long-term opportunities and prospects. Music 4 U’s work is shaped and led by those we support, namely young people aged 16+ with additional support needs who are interested in music and performing as a vocational pathway. This may be those who are in or have been in supported education who are looking for their next step or neurodiverse individuals who require varying levels of support to pursue a career in the performing arts. Many of our young people have been in supported education and are unable to work or engage in further education/training without some level of support. Many don’t meet the threshold for some higher levels of support, therefore they are left in a ‘grey area’, with few options for progression. Our participants crave a social and creative purpose and are seeking opportunities for output which will bring them fulfilment and positively impact others within the community in equal measure.
