About Music and Imagery Association of Australia
The Music and Imagery Association of Australia (MIAA) was established in 1994 with the late Dr Helen Bonny as the patroness. MIAA is the peak body for the Bonny method of Guided Imagery & Music, & music & imagery practices in Australia. Guided Imagery and Music (GIM) is an evidence-based form of psychotherapy using music and visual imagery to promote mental and spiritual health and wellbeing. The GIM method is multi-modal, incorporating verbal counselling, music, and creative therapies. It is practised by registered therapists (RGIMT) in professional therapeutic settings, including private studios, hospitals, workplaces, schools, community groups and retreats. We are proud to support a growing membership of diverse and skilled therapists, who effect transformative change through evidence-based therapy.
