About Music and Mindfulness

Welcome to Music and Mindfulness! We believe that music and mindfulness interweave and complement each other. While we teach each discipline alone, we also create unique pedagogical solutions where both meet. Christine, the Mindfulness Director, used the momentum of the global pandemic to explore ways to equip school communities with the much needed tools to support their mental health during and in the aftermath of Covid-19, as well as beyond. Furthermore, she works specifically with teachers and school management to develop school wide programs to provide for teachers’ mental health and well-being to prevent burnout. Christine also offers secular mindfulness classes to the wider public. Our Music Director, Basel, is a performing artist as well as an experienced educator. With many years teaching in different settings, he meets his students where they are at, and works with them to reach their musical goal. He provides a safe and inclusive classroom that welcomes all levels. Basel uses the Suzuki method to teach violin, and emphasizes the importance of including the parents in the musical journey of their kids. Additionally, he is an expert in starting and maintaining string programs that develop into string orchestras and more. To enjoy, practice, or play music, we have to be in the present. The awareness of the present moment is the heart of every mindfulness practice. We combine these two aspects in unique approaches for individuals, musicians, students and teachers.
