Swiss Composer and pianist based in London, Karim Younis was born in Sierre (Switzerland) and grew up in Locarno. As a composer with a wide range of styles, Karim Younis has written music for films, theatre, trailers, adverts and live performances, with his music performed in concert in Switzerland, UK, Italy, France, Netherlands, Poland, Romania and Hungary. His most recent projects include: the feature-film “Kilo 64”, a documentary by Egyptian Director Amir El-Shenawy screened at the 40th Cairo International Film Festival; "Cactus Boy" an award winning short film by the British Director Chris Brake; “Fledgling” an award winning short animation by French-American Director Juliette Rogasik; “The Thin Layer” by the German director Hanna Schrage, a VR Film with spatial music. Karim Younis completed his studies at the Royal College of Music London with his Master in Composition for Screen followed by BBC film composer Maurizio Malagnini and Enrica Sciandrone, furthermore with his Bachelor in Traditional and Contemporary Composition at the University of Arts Bern in Switzerland with Professor Xavier Dayer. As for other important music projects, Karim Younis accompanied the stories and legends of Canton Valais in three pieces written for orchestra performed in 2015 by the Ensemble Hodiernis in Morgins, Saint-Maurice and Visp (Valais, Switzerland). In 2014, he was asked by the German composer Helmut Oehring to write a contemporary concept piece for string quartet performed in the Music Theatre "Angelus Novus II" at the Dampfzentrale Hall in Bern. The composition has also been played on the Swiss Radio SRF2. Furthermore, Karim Younis composed the music for a sport dancing choreography performed in 2016 at the Swiss Championship of Gymnastic in Widnau.
